Conditions
The Open Division will be FIDE and ACF rated. The U1600 will be ACF rated. Players who are not Australian citizens or have a permanent residency visa must have a FIDE ID number to enter the Open tournament. This can be obtained from their national federation.
All players under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian on the premises at all times.
Entry in the Open section is restricted to players with an ACF standard rating of at least 1400 or a FIDE standard rating of at least 1600.
You need to register and pay by 8 June to be eligible for the early entry fee.
Entries on the day of the tournament will be included in the round 1 draw at the arbiter’s discretion. Absolutely no entries will be accepted after 11:30am.
Full-time students under 25 can enter at the junior rate. Student ID card must be produced on the day of the tournament otherwise the applicable adult entry fee will be charged.
For Pensioner discount, Pensioner Concession Card or Commonwealth Seniors Health Card must be produced on the day of the tournament otherwise the applicable adult entry fee will be charged.
Exemption from entry fees: FIDE titleholders – GM, IM, WGM, WIM. Entry must be received by the early entry cut off date of 8 June or full entry fees must be paid.

• The event will be ACF rated
• All players under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian on the premises at all times.

• You need to register and pay by 28 September to be eligible for the early entry fee.
• Entries on the day of the tournament will be included in the round 1 draw at the arbiter’s discretion. Absolutely no entries will be accepted after 10:30am.
• Full-time students under 25 can enter at the junior rate. Student ID card must be produced on the day of the tournament otherwise the applicable adult entry fee will be charged.
• For pensioner discount, Pensioner Concession Card or Commonwealth Seniors Health Card must be produced on the day of the tournament otherwise the applicable adult entry fee will be charged.
• Exemption from entry fees: FIDE titleholders - GM, IM, WGM, WIM. Entry must be received by the early entry cut off date of 28 September or full entry fees must be paid.
• Players are eligible for 1 prize only. Rating prizes are based on ACF ratings. Unrated players are not eligible for rating restricted prizes.

Terms and Conditions:
• Entries are only accepted on our website.
• Decisions made by the arbiter on the night are final and no appeals are permitted for the purpose of time. (Article 11.10)
• Rating restricted prizes are restricted to players with an ACF Rating. Players are only eligible for one prize. Prize winners will receive the maximum amount possible. depending on their placement.
• Prizes may be combined and split between players if there is a tie.
• Pairings by Vega using FIDE Approved Baku Acceleration Method.
• The arbiter reserves the right to modify the pairing before the round begins if there are changes in the draw.
• October FIDE and September ACF Ratings will be used.
• All ½ point byes must be requested at the latest Friday evening. All byes requested after Friday will be given as zero-point byes. No half point byes in rounds 8 and 9.
• A maximum of two half-point byes will be permitted in the tournament.
• Exceptions to the byes’ policies will only be made at the arbiter’s discretion under special circumstances. The $10 penalty fee will apply each time you do not turn up before the default time without informing the arbiter.
• The draw will be published weekly on our website, newsletter and social media platforms on Saturday evening.
• Please email byes@rootyhillchessclub.org if you are unable to make it to your game. There is limited reception at the club, and the arbiter may not receive your text message.
• Players not residing in Australia must have a FIDE ID to compete. If not listed on the FIDE website, players must obtain an ID from their national federation.
• Entries close Sunday October 1st. Late entries are $60 for all players. Entries in rounds 7/8/9 will be $30 for all players.

Prize giving approximately 6:30pm
Format: 7 round Swiss
Prizes: 1st $500 2nd $300 3rd $200
1800-1600, 1599-1300, 1299 and below $300 in each division
Top Illawarra Junior to receive a term tuition at Wollongong Junior Chess Club (Valued at $170)
Time Control: 15 minutes plus 10 seconds per move
Entry fees:
If registered by ANZAC day 25 April: $30, free entry for all titled players.
If registering after 25 April: $50 including all titled players.
Entries on the day will be included from round 2 onwards unless the arbiter decides otherwise.
• The event will be ACF & FIDE rated. All foreign players must have a FIDE Identification number.
• All minors must be signed into Collegians Wollongong (the playing venue) by an adult.
• Outside of main playing area, minors must be accompanied by an adult.
• You need to register and pay by 25 April to be eligible for the early entry fee.
• Players are eligible for one prize only. Rating prizes are based on ACF ratings. Unrated players are not eligible for
rating-restricted prizes.
• All NSW resident players must be full members for 2024 of (or join) the NSWCA or the NSWJCL.
• To be eligible to win the title of Wollongong ANZAC Rapid Champion the player must live within Illawarra or
Shoalhaven region.
• By entering the event, players acknowledge decisions of the organiser, Wollongong Chess Club (WCC) are final.

Australian Citizens & Permanent residents without FIDE ID numbers will need to provide DOB prior to the start of
the event or their entry will not be accepted.
Foreign players without a FIDE ID number will not be accepted. They will need to obtain a FIDE ID number from
their National Federation and advise that number prior to their entry being accepted.

The tournament will take place in the foyer of the Concourse.
10:30am Round 1
7 Round swiss
Time Limit: 10 minutes each per game plus 5 seconds per move.
Entry Fee:
If registered by 17 May: $25 including all titled players
If registered on 18 May: $35 including all titled players

U2000-1800, U1800-1600, U1600-1400 and U1400
$150 in each division

• Forfeit times: Any player who arrives at the chessboard after their time has elapsed shall lose the game unless the arbiter decides otherwise.

• By entering the event, players acknowledge that the decision of the organiser (NSWCA) is final.

• Chatswood is a major transport hub with buses and trains nearby. There is parking available underneath the Concourse at $8 for the day.
