The NSW Chess Association has great pleasure in inviting entries to the NSW Open, the premier
weekender in NSW. There are outstanding prizes on offer, with the Minor boasting the richest prize pool
for U1600s in Australia. We look forward to seeing you there!

Schedule:
Round 1: Friday 5th June @ 7:30pm

Round 2: Saturday 6th June @ 10:30am

Round 3: Saturday 6th June @ 3:00pm

Round 4: Sunday 7th June @ 10:30am

Round 5: Sunday 7th June @ 3:00pm

Round 6: Monday 8th June @ 1o:30am

Round 7: Monday 8th June @ 3:00pm

Time Control: 90 minutes each per game, plus 30 seconds per move

Divisions:
NSW Open Major: Over 1400 ACF or 1600 FIDE
NSW Open Minor: Under 1600 ACF

Terms and Conditions:

  • The Major and Minor division will be both ACF and FIDE rated. Players who are not Australian citizens or have a permanent residency visa must have a FIDE ID number to enter the tournament. This can be obtained from their national federation.
  • All players under 13 years of age must have a parent or guardian on the premises at all times.
  • Entry in the Major section is restricted to players with an ACF standard rating of at least 1400 or a FIDE standard rating of at least 1600. You need to register and pay by 3rd June to be eligible for the early entry fee.
  • Absolutely no entries will be accepted on the day.
  • For Concession discount, a Healthcare Card, Pensioner Concession Card or a National Assistance Card must be produced on the day of the tournament otherwise the applicable Standard entry fee will be charged.
  • Exemption from entry fees: FIDE titleholders – GM, IM, WGM, WIM. Entry must be received by the early entry cut off date of 3rd June or full entry fees must be paid.
  • Players are eligible for one prize only. Rating prizes are based on ACF ratings. Unrated players are not eligible for rating-restricted prizes, including 1st-5th prizes in the Minor.
  • Forfeit times: Any player who arrives at the chessboard more than 30 minutes after the start of the session shall lose the game unless the arbiter decides otherwise.
  • All NSW resident players must be full members for 2026 of (or join) the NSWCA or the NSWJCL.
  • By entering the event players acknowledge that the decision of the organiser (NSWCA) is final.
