2026 NSW Seniors (50 and Over) Championship
The NSW Chess Association Inc. invites your participation in this event hosted by Norths.

 

Eligibility: the tournament is open to players who have reached or will reach the age of 50 during 2026.

When: Saturday 19 September & Sunday 20 September 2026
Schedule:

Saturday: 10:30am Round 1, 1:30pm Round 2, 4:00pm Round 3
Sunday: 10:30am Round 4, 1:30pm Round 5, 4:00pm Round 6, 6:30pm Prize giving

Prize fund: $1,900
Open: 1st $400 2nd $250 3rd $150
Rating divisions: U2000-1800, U1800-1600, U1600-1400 and U1400
1st $150 2nd $75 – subject to 5 players in each division
Best 65+: $200 (for players who have reached or will reach the age of 65 during 2026)

Time control:
60 minutes plus 10 seconds per move

Entry fees:
If registered by 16 September: Standard: $60.00 | Concession: $50.00
If registered before 19 September: Standard: $80.00 | Concession: $70.00

  •  The tournament will be ACF rated.
  • You need to register and pay by 16 September to be eligible for the early entry fee.
  • Absolutely no entries will be accepted on the day.
  • For Concession discount, a Healthcare Card, Pensioner Concession Card or a National Assistance Card must be produced on the day of the tournament otherwise the applicable adult entry fee will be charged.
  • Exemption from entry fees: FIDE titleholders – GM, IM, WGM, WIM. Entry must be received by the early entry cut-off date of 16 September or full entry fees must be paid.
  • Players are eligible for one prize only. Rating prizes are based on ACF ratings. Unrated players are not eligible for rating-restricted prizes.
  • Forfeit times: Any player who arrives at the chessboard more than 30 minutes after the start of the session shall lose the game unless the arbiter decides otherwise.
  • All NSW resident players must be full members of (or join) the NSWCA.
  • By entering the event players acknowledge that the decision of the organiser (NSWCA) is final.

  • Players may request up to two half point byes prior to the start of the round before the bye is needed. Half point byes are not available in the last two rounds.
  • All prizes not redeemed within 3 months will be treated as donations to the next Olympiad.
