2026 NSW STATE CHESS CHAMPIONSHIPS – ENTRIES NOW OPEN
The University of Sydney Chess Club is pleased to invite players to the 2026 NSW State Chess Championships, to be held from Friday 25 September to Tuesday 29 September 2026 at the University of Sydney.
The event features tournaments suitable for players across a wide range of ratings and experience levels.
Divisions
NSW Championship
* 9 rounds
* 90 minutes + 30 seconds per move
* Open to players rated over 1950 ACF
* Entry: $150 / $125 concession
NSW Reserves
* 9 rounds
* 90 minutes + 30 seconds per move
* 1550–2000 ACF
* Entry: $135 / $105 concession
NSW Minor
* 9 rounds
* 90 minutes + 30 seconds per move
* Under 1600 ACF, including unrated players
* Entry: $115 / $95 concession
USYD Classic
* 6 rounds
* 60 minutes + 30 seconds per move
* Open to all players
* Entry: $75 / $65 concession
USYD Mini
* 6 rounds
* 30 minutes + 30 seconds per move
* Designed as the most accessible division for newer and lower-rated tournament players
* Entry: $55 / $45 concession
Discounted entry is also available for University of Sydney Chess Club members.
FIDE-titled GM, WGM, IM and WIM players receive free entry when registering by 18 September.
Schedule
The NSW Championship, Reserves and Minor begin at 7:00 pm on Friday 25 September, followed by two rounds per day from Saturday through Tuesday.
The USYD Classic runs from Saturday to Monday, while the USYD Mini runs across Saturday and Sunday.
Standard entry fees apply until 11:59 pm Friday 18 September. Entries from 19 September incur a 30% late fee.
Entries close at 3:00 pm Friday 25 September.
